Hi, my name is Joe Lauer. My brother Bill and I founded San Clemente Auto in 1994. Recently, we have opened three additional lots with our General Managers: Jonathan Hart, Ryan McMillan and William West. How are we able to expand while other dealerships are closing? By sticking to the principles on which we founded the business: quality cars at the best prices with a no-pressure environment.
With the difficult economic times, many people have come to realize that it makes more sense to purchase a certified used automobile rather than a brand new car. Since new cars depreciate rapidly during the first few years, the financial savings and future resale value of a high quality used vehicle is quite compelling.
Additionally, we have set up a business model where we keep our dealership overhead low. We do not have commissioned sales people, expensive real estate or showrooms. None of these things add to the value of the car once it is driven off of the lot. By keeping this overhead low, we can offer more attractive pricing than our competitors on auto row.
One thing that does add value, however, is the mechanical quality of your car. Some automobile dealerships just have sales offices with no repair shops. To them, repairing and reconditioning their vehicles is an added expense that they have to pay out to other companies. At San Clemente Auto, we have our own repair shops. Our lead mechanic, Dan Kubat, is a master mechanic with more than 35 years of experience. Making sure we offer great running vehicles is not an added expense, but part of who we are.
